Your little rider will love Giant's Areva 24. It features a lightweight aluminum frame, a 21-speed drivetrain with reliable, intuitive Shimano twist shifters, trusty linear-pull brakes and plenty of dirt-worthy components. Other dirt-loving parts include the suspension fork and grippy tires that handle all types of terrain. Plus, the low top tube makes getting on and off a breeze, too.

Comments:
We bought this bike for my daughter's 10th birthday. She absolutely loves it. She adapted quickly from a bike with no gears to this 21-gear model, with a quick, yet thorough crash course from the excellent sales representative at Bob's Bikes in Homewood, AL. She is slightly on the short side of average height, maybe by 1/2 to 1 inch, and this bike with it's 3-positional adjustment saddle is fully equipped to grow with her. Smooth gear changing makes it perfect for our area that has a good combination of flat and hilly, paved and unpaved streets, as well as trails through rocky, hilly woods. Overall, it is an excellent, lightweight bike made with quality components that makes it stand out from less expensive models/brands sold at other stores. It is worth every penny and I would buy this brand and/or this bike in particular again and again.
